Balam Acab - See Birds

I’m spending a lot of time looking for NZ Music for my radio show this month. In between doses I take a break and listen to other stuff. Like this.

I am quite excited about the fact that Balam Acab has joined the ATP Release The Bats festival lineup in Australia this October. I”m picking a trip across the ditch is due…

May in New Zealand is all about the music. That is, if you are involved in the (mainstream) music industry, May is all about parading our temporary contributions to an insiders industry and venues are booked out with artists who are too lazy to gig the rest of the year.
Ok so there is a little more to it than that, and if you keep an eye out there are opportunities for even the most underground, unheard of, zero budget, independent musicians and their managers. But what else is going on in the month of May?

Well, this

Chromacon basically looks like the art event of the year for upcoming, independent and homegrown artists. (A bit of a theme in May perhaps?) A non-profit, community based event; Chromacon aims to connect artists and art lovers alike, yet I envisage it to be quite a bit more. As an afternoon outing this free event is more than worth a look in, and who knows? with works available from the individual exhibitors you may well go home with a piece of wall candy. Or a Mother’s day gift. Who else can benefit? Looking for an illustrator? Artist? Graphic designer? There will be plenty of talent on show and you might just find the designer or your new logo, the animator of your new advert or the painter of your next portrait. Whether it is for networking reasons, business or pure entertainment head along if you are able, or keep an eye out for future events.

Keep in touch with Chromacon

on Facebook.
